Resided in New Jerusalem. He was from Millstream, Kings County, ca. 1904. He was a sawmill owner and operator. Gilbert Sweeney, brother-in-law of Robert H., lived with his nephew Hepburn on the old homestead.

R. Hepburn Adamson, b. 1890 - d. 1943 ae 62 yrs, New Jerusalem, Queens Co, NB m. Gertrude Beckett d/o Samuel & Elizabeth (Selfridge) Beckett. When the government took over the area as a military base in 1952-53, Gertie moved to Brown's Flats, where she died 7 May 1861. She was b. in 1885.

Hepburn carried on the mill operated by his father, and also has fox farming as a sideline for many years. He, with his brother, Donald, built a large house on the property, which he later shared with his son, Leland. When Lee took over the mill he added a portable mill to his equipment. When he moved to Harvey he again set up a mill, at York Mills.

They had two sons, and raised a girl as their daughter.

Leland (Lee) operated the saw mill after his father. Following the land take over by the government he and his wife moved to Harvey, York County, where he also operated a saw mill. He m. Marguerite Stapledon, whom he met while she was teaching school in the New Jerusalem area. They had:

  1. Walter m. [...] Brown, d/o D'Arcy Brown of Brown's Flats, and has 4 children. A dau; a son, Stephen and two more.
  2. Shirley m. [...], an airman. They lived in Ontario and Germany and have five children.

Herbert W. resided in Montreal in 1952/3. He m. 10 Jun 19.., to Erma Jean Benvie, d/o Mr. & Mrs. John W. Benvie, of Upper Stewiack, NS.

Bessie Stockton was an "adopted" daughter. In 1942 she m. Cpl. James Wingate Ogilvie, of Sterling, Scotland and Saint John, NB. They lived awhile in the latter place. Bessie died in young womanhood at the homestead in New Jerusalem, of a lingering fight with cancer, during which she showed remarkabke faith and courage.  They had one daughter who lived with her grandmother, Gertie Adamson, at Brown's Flats.
    Jimmy, a professional soldier, is stationed at Base Gagetown in Oromcoto, NB, and has since remarried. He and his second wife lived in the greater Fredericton area.

ADAMSON - Hepburn
= 1943 Jerusalem, b. at Millstream 62 yrs ago, living there until 1905.  He operated a saw and grist mill up to the time of  his death.  Survived by his wife, two sons: Leland & Herbert; sister Mrs. Frank Jewett of Saint John; one brother, Donald of  Fredericton, as well as a foster daughter, Mrs. J. W. Ogilvie, St John.  (Note:  He was buried at Lake Baptist Cemetery, in Jerusalem, later moved to Brown's Flats.) (#1,TJ,?)

= Mrs. Gertrude Adamson = Friends and neighbours were saddened by the sudden death of Mrs. Gertrude Adamson, widow of the late Hepburn Adamson, which occurred at her home in Brown;s Flat, NB, on May 7, after many months of ill health. She was 76 years of age.
    Mrs. Adamson was born in New Jerusalem, NB, a daughter of Mr and Mrs. Sam Beckett, where she lived until seven years ago. She was a member of the Baptist Church, being active in Sunday School, Sewing Circle, Missionary Societies, and all organizations of church work until her passing to a better home.
    She is survived by two sons: Leland of Harvey, NB, and Herbert of Montreal, PQ. Also surviving are a sister. Mrs. Alice Short of Brown's Flat; five brothers:
    Edwin of Norton, Rev. Gordon of Moncton, Eldon of Brown's Flat, Humbert of Arlington, Mass, and Walter of Sudbury, Mass.. and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
    The funeral took place from Brown's Flat Baptist Church. Rev. George Conway officiated, assisted by Rev. Morris Russell, who also sang a solo, "My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me" as a testimony of the deceased member. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

= ADAMSON - At Browns Flat, Kings County, Sunday, May 7, 1961, Gertrude L. Adamson of West Jerusalem, Queens County, survived by two sons, five brothers, one sister, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at her home in Browns Flat until May 9, when, following prayers at the home at 1:45 funeral service will be held in the Browns Flat United Baptist Church. Interment in the Baptist Cemetery at New Jerusalem.

= MRS. J. W. OGILVIE DIES AT NEW JERUSALEM = New Jerusalem, Queens County, Aug 23 - (Special) - Mrs. Bessie L. Olgilvie, died at the home of her mother this evening.  She had been in failing health, for the past year. She was well-known here and in Saint John.
    Surviving besides her husband and her mother, Mrs. R.H. Adamson, are one daughter, Barbara, and two brothers, Lee and Herbert.
    The funeral will be held from the home of her mother of the Lake Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. Interment will be made in the cemetery adjoining the church.

= FUNERAL SERVICE HELD AT NEW JERUSALEM = New Jerusalem, Queens County, Sept 6 - Special - The funeral of Mrs. Bessie Ogilvie, wife of Sgt. James W. Olgilvie of Saint John, was held the home of her mother, Mrs. R. Hepburn Adamson, to the Baptist Church. Rev. B.P. Covell, pastor, conducted the service. Flowers were received from the Baptist Sunday School and Church, the New Jerusalem Women's
    Institute, the New Jerusalem Ladies L.O.B.A. No. 1111, Lee Adamson's Mill Crew, Staff of the Saint John General Hospital, and a wreath from No.7 E.S.&W. Company R.C.E. of Saint John. Pallbearers were Medley McKinnon, Cyrus Corbett, Harold Murphy, Charles Fulton, Malcolm Corbett and Sam Doherty. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.
    Mrs. Olgivie was 32, a graduate of the Modern Business College, and prior to her marriage was employed for some six years on the office staff of the Saint John General Hospital. She had been in falling health for about a year.
    Surviving besides her husband and mother, is a daughter, Barbara, aged two and one-half years; also two brothers, Herbert, Dartmouth, NS, and Lee at home.

ADAMSON - Marguerite Elizabeth (Mrs. Leland)
= Unexpectedly at her home, Harvey Station, Dec. 9, 1975, Marguerite Elizabeth Adamson, wife of Leland Adamson; survived by her husband, two children, nine grandchildren, one brother and one sister, several nieces and nephews.
    Resting at her home until Thursday when service will be held in St Andrew's United Church at 2:30 p.m.  Interment in Harvey Cemetery. (#1,TJ,?)

= MARGUERITE E. ADAMSON (Dec 1975)  The death of Mrs. Marguerite Adamson, wife of Leland Adamson, occurred unexpectedly at her home at Harvey Station at the age of 67.
    Born in Chatham, a daughter of the late Walter and Mildred (Hendry_Stapledon, she was a school teacher in Harvey Station and retired in 1960.
    She is survived by her husband, one son, Walter Harvey Station; one daughter, Shirley of Toronto; one brother, Allan Stapledon of Marysville; one sister, Mrs. Helen McLeod, St Martins; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    The body rested at her home ... Andrews United Church where service was conducted by Rev. L. G. Todd, assisted by Rev. Joseph Beesley. Pallbearers were Jack Allan, Jr. and Earl Stapledon (nephews), Stephen Adamson (grandson), Gary Clark and Earle Grieve.
    Interment took place in the Harvey Community Cemetery. A service was conducted at the home by the LOBA. Many floral tributes were received as well as memorial cards to numerous organizations.

ADAMSON - Herbert W.
= Unexpectedly in his 56th year at Rockville General Hospital on Friday, May 16, 1975, Herbert W. Adamson of Montreal, formerly of New Jerusalem, Queens County, NB.  Survived by his wife, Erma (Benvie), daughters, Faye (Mrs. L. Gibbons) and Ruby (Mrs. R. Funnell); three grandchildren, one brother Lee of Harvey Station. Funeral service was held in Montreal at White Chapel on Tuesday, May 20 with interment in Hawthorne Dale Cemetery.

Donald A. Adamson resided in the new duplex house on the home property for awhile, but later moved to Gagetown, then to Fredericton, York Co, and on to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He died at the Victoria General Hospital, Dartmouth, NS aged 69 years. He was employed at the Naval Armories Depot, and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Tuft's Cove, NS, and was buried in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth. He m. Lena Beckett, who died 16 July 1953, aged 66 years, at her home in Dartmouth, NS.

Survived by 2 daus: Grace, New York City; Mrs. E.M. = Mrs. Donald Adamson, d. of a heart attack in Dartmouth, NS, d/o the late Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Beckett, New Jerusalem, NB. Survived by her husband, 2 daus: Mrs. Agnes Smith, Petitcodiac, & Grace, New York; 2 sons: Malcolm, Arlington, MA & Robert at home.  2 sisters: Mrs. Alfred Short, Moncton, and Mrs. Hepburn Adamson, New Jerusalem. Five brothers and several other relatives, also survive. Members of the Bethel Baptist Church in Dartmouth, NS, from where the funeral was held. Burial is to be in the Rural Cemetery. (#1,TJ,?)

= Mrs. Donald Adamson, d. 16 Jul 1953 at her home, 18 Howe St, Lotting Park, Dartmouth, NS, after a brief illness. She was formerly Lena Beckett, of New Jerusalem, and was in the 66th year of her life.  Survived by her husband, 2 daus, 2 sons, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, 6 grandchildren.  Funeral from her home Saturday.
