Polley Family of Dunn's Corner

James Polley (Jim) a farmer of Headline, Queens County NB, married Annie Amelia Inch, the eldest daughter of John Inch of New Jerusalem. In 1879 he was killed by being caught in the machinery of a mill. She died in 1909. They had four children, Harry A, Mary, Teed, and Keble.

(1) Mary married Alfred Scribiner and had one child, Harry who lives in Welsford.

(2) Harry A married Helen Howe of Welsford and lived on the original farm on the Headline (Dunns' Corner) across from the No. 4 Orange Hall and next door to Alwood Dunn. They had no children but raised a Scotch boy Johnny McIntyre from the Cosser Farm near Gagetown. He married Jean Murphy from Headline and had four children. Jean was in the RCAF in World War II and they now live in Fairvale.

(3) Teed married and had children in Saint John.

(4) Keble was shell-shocked in World War I and was for many years a patient in the Fairville Centercare Institution.

It is believed that James and Richard Polley were brothers and came out from Ireland as sailors. They left ship in Halifax and made their way to Clones and Headline.

John and Leonard Inch were brothers, sons of Nathaniel Inch, one of the original settlers who came out from Ireland in 1824 and settled in New Jerusalem NB. Annie Amelia (1854-1909) and Eliza Mae, the wives of James and Richard were first cousins.
