The Short Family

Mark Short (d. 1871 aged 80 yrs, was from England. He m. there to ... Hoyt.*  His grant ran from what has become known as Machum's Corner to the David Moore lot.  He built the house which Murray Short lived on in 1952. Most of his family came from England.
* {Mrs. Elder said she was of England, and also her father was a Loyalist from the USA. This seems to be a conflict although some Loyalist did go back to England few average people returned to NB.}

    A4: Samuel m. Bertha Howe, d/o James & Mary Jane (McHarg) Howe. He
        lived for a short time on a farm which was part of the Clifford
        Kennedy farm in 1952, then on the old Hutchinson place, from there
        he moved to Glenwood. His two eldest children were born in
        Jerusalem.
    A5: George D. (1858-1930) m. Lucy Annett (1865-1949). They lived on the
        farm next to his father's, which had previously been Mr. William's
        farm.

    A7: James Alfred m. Alice Beckett. He was the last of his family to
        die. He succeeded to his father's farm and his son, Wilmot
        succeeded him, the latter owning it in 1952, and then moving to
        Brown's flats.

02: William H. (Dec 1824 - 13 Feb 1913) (36-1861) m.1) Kezia Jordan (d. 29
    Mar 1877 aged 54 yrs) (37-1861); Kezia's father, and her sister Zella
    (deaf) came to live with them. Kezia was a native of Yorkshire,
    England.
    He m.2) Elizabeth Harrison (d. 5 Sep 1886 aged 56 yrs). She was the d/o
    Thomas & Catherine (Turvey) Harrison.
    He m.3) widow Beckett; and m.4) widow French ??
    A1: Albert (d. 1892 aged 42 yrs) (12-1861) m. Elizabeth Webb (d. 16 May
        1916 aged 56 yrs) d/o Frederick & Mary Jane (Belyea) Webb. He
        conducted a general store, at what was known as Short's Corner. His
        widow carried on for some time, and when she remarried her second
        husband (Bob Barnett) continued it. Albert is buried in the Simpson
        Road Cemetery as is his sister, Elizabeth. His widow is buried by
        her second husband in the Hill Baptist Cemetery. Elizabeth (Webb)
        Short m.2) Robert Holly Barnett, and had two children; Lillian and
        Victoria. (see Barnett record)

        a4: Erna m. Thomas Dunn, and lived in Toronto, ON. She d. pre 1952

    A2: Mark (1850-1934) (11-1861) m.1) M. Katherine Jordan, who d. 1900
        aged 60 yrs. They are buried at the Simpson Road Cemetery. She was
        the d/o John & Isabel (Stewart) Jordan, from near Fredericton. Mark
        m.2) Mrs. Morgan. Mark moved to Brown's Flats after his wife died.
        His son John took over the farm and owned it in 1952.

        a2: Mabel m. George Corbet and was a school teacher. They lived on
            the Gagetown Road.
        a3: Gertrude m. Wilson Galbraith (Olinville)
        a4: John m. Alice Webb, d/o Wellington & Julia (Lowery) Webb.

        a5: George m. a girl from Scotland during WW I. They lived near
            Sussex and he died pre 1952.

    A3: Elizabeth (7-1961) m. Stephen Kierstead. She d. 1915 aged 63 yrs.
        She and Stephen had parted and her sons lived in Jerusalem part of
        the time.

    A5: Albert William (4-1861) m. Etta Musgrove. He lived for a time on
        the Thomas Hastings place, also on the Ben Clarke place. From there
        he went to the States and on to western Canada. He died pre 1951.
    A6: Willir M. (1-1861)
    A7: Timothy L. (1864-1947) m.1) Margaret H. Easton; (1873-1913) who had
        been a school teacher. He lived awhile on his father's farm, then
        moved to Brown's Flats.
        He m.2) Mrs. Alice A. (Short) Robinson. (1884-1949). She had two
        daughters by her first marriage and they came to Jerusalem with
        her. They were: Eva, a teacher who m. Fred Vail (They had Olive;
        Gerald & Levica); and Levica who m. in the USA and d. pre 1952.

    Greenwich at m.) and is believed to have moved to York Co.
05: Melinda m. David Lindsey, and is believed to have moved to York Co.
